Balancing Motherhood and Politics: A New Mom's Journey to City Council in Coquitlam
As a new mother returning to work, I find myself navigating the multifaceted challenges that come with balancing the demands of motherhood alongside my professional responsibilities. The transition back into the workforce has proven to be more complex than I initially anticipated. One of the most significant hurdles I have encountered is the difficulty in securing reliable daycare for my 2-year-old child.
Fortunately, my work is flexible enough that I can work from home. However, this presents its own unique set of challenges. While I strive to maintain my professional commitments, I am also tasked with caring for my energetic 2-year-old and our dog, who both require attention and engagement throughout the day. This juggling act requires a delicate balance of time management and creativity. I often find myself shifting from work tasks to playtime activities throughout the day, all while ensuring that deadlines are met and responsibilities are fulfilled. The experience has taught me invaluable lessons in patience, adaptability, and the importance of setting boundaries.
In light of my experiences as a working mother, I have also felt a strong calling to become more actively involved in my community. This has led me to make the important decision to run for a seat on the City Council of Coquitlam. My commitment to this endeavor is driven by a deep desire to have a voice in the development and governance of our city. I believe that by participating in local politics, I can advocate for policies and initiatives that will foster a sustainable future for my daughter and our family, as well as for all families residing in Coquitlam. I am particularly passionate about issues such as affordable childcare, community resources, and family-friendly policies that support working parents. I want to ensure that Coquitlam remains a vibrant and welcoming place for families, where children can thrive and grow in a nurturing environment.
